Our school facilities

We offer a variety of engaging and well-equipped learning environments that support student growth and enjoyment throughout the school day. Our facilities include:

bright, air-conditioned classrooms designed for future-focused learning
a well-resourced library that fosters a love of reading and research
expansive outdoor areas including an oval, mini all-weather court, basketball court and adventure playgrounds
shaded COLAs and flexible outdoor spaces for learning and play
a multi-purpose school hall for assemblies, performances and events
dedicated music and performance spaces that inspire creativity
a modern technology hub and classroom-wide access to digital learning tools
access to STEM resources like robotics kits, 3D printers and virtual reality tools
vegetable gardens and environmental learning zones supported by our Green Team
a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) program in Years 4–6, where students purchase or rent a Chromebook to use in their classroom learning

Resources and technology

Digital learning is woven into daily life at Wakehurst Public School. From Chromebooks and smartboards to coding, robotics and virtual reality, students build the skills they need to succeed in a connected world. As part of the NSW public education system, we also access trusted platforms and tools that enhance learning across all stages.

Wakehurst PS is proud to be a NSWEduChat pilot school, giving our students and staff early access to a secure, department-approved AI tool that enhances teaching, learning and creativity. Watch the video below to see how we’ve been using this innovative program in 2025.

Wakehurst PS Parent Information Booklet

Our air-conditioned classrooms are designed for comfort, collaboration and curiosity. These student-centred spaces support personalised, future-focused learning. Students are encouraged to think critically, work independently or in teams, and use feedback to improve. With strong routines and high expectations, every child is challenged, supported and inspired to grow in a safe and inclusive environment.

Our library fosters a love of reading, research and discovery. Students take part in weekly lessons with our teacher librarian to explore literature, develop comprehension and build digital literacy skills. The library is also open during lunch breaks, providing a calm and welcoming space for quiet reading, borrowing and inquiry. It plays a key role in supporting engagement across the curriculum.

Creativity comes alive in our music, drama and performance spaces. Students take part in class music lessons and are encouraged to explore their talents through choir, band, drama, dance and school performances. These programs promote self-expression, teamwork and confidence, helping students connect with others and experience the joy of performing and creating as part of their learning journey.

Technology is embedded across all aspects of learning at Wakehurst PS. Weekly ICT lessons build skills in coding, robotics, digital storytelling and research. Students use devices to collaborate, create and problem-solve in engaging and meaningful ways. In Years 4–6, our BYOD Chromebook program enhances student agency and supports future-focused learning in the classroom and beyond.

Our generous outdoor areas include a full-sized oval, basketball court and all-weather mini court—providing plenty of space for active play, sport and movement. Students take part in weekly PE lessons, school carnivals and representative opportunities in PSSA and Zone sport. These programs help students build teamwork, resilience and a strong sense of enjoyment in being physically active.

Through our vegetable gardens and environmental learning zones, students experience hands-on sustainability education. Our Green Team leads garden care, composting and harvesting, helping to promote environmental responsibility and student leadership. These spaces connect learning across science, health and geography, encouraging students to care for their surroundings and make informed, sustainable choices in daily life.
