Principal's message

It is a great privilege to have been appointed as the Principal of Wakehurst Public School in 2016. In 2016 our school celebrated 50 years of providing quality education to our community. We continue to prioritise the needs of our students to provide quality educational outcomes and enjoy a collaborative partnership with our parent community.

Our school mission is: Personalised learning for Life.

Our highly qualified and dedicated staff plan quality, differentiated educational programs targeted to the specific needs of students.  These programs promote a lifelong love of learning and encourage individual development. Our staff includes specialist teachers in the areas of Learning support, English as an additional language or dialect, performing arts and Information and Communication Technology. Students have access to excellent technological resources at Wakehurst Public School, including interactive whiteboards in every classroom, a computer lab in which all classes complete lessons as part of their weekly timetable, and iPads and Chromebooks that are accessed by all students in Years K-6. Student wellbeing is of fundamental importance at Wakehurst Public School and is complemented through an explicit values education program and an awards system where students enjoy public recognition for their achievements.  We offer a wide variety of curricular and extra-curricular opportunities in sport, choir, dance, drama, student leadership, debating and public speaking and environmental education.  We are also part of the Warringah Community of Schools providing collaborative activities for students and staff across a number of the local primary and high schools.

We look forward to welcoming you to our school.  Please do not hesitate to contact the school office if you would like some further information or if you would like to organise a school tour.

Kind regards,

Caroline Desmond
Principal
